The Mummers Parade 2012, New Year’s Day Philadelphia, PA
New Orleans Marti Gras takes a back seat to The Mummers Parade held January 1st to reign every New Year in Philadelphia, PA.
Over thousands of strutters parade over a 3 mile journey from south Broad Street to City Hall’s judges stand. Then it is on to 2 Street for the after party.
When I was single digits, I would take the subway downtown and sneak in a bleacher seat, grab a hot chocolate and watch the parade.
If you are not along the parade route, you sit at home viewing your TV in amazement, with the costumes, music, feathers, and dancers all aglow.
The Divisions are Comics, Fancys, Fancy Brigades and the 17 String Bands.
It is Philadelphia’s best kept secret on New Year’s Day.

Only 225 people stood in line for tickets at Scranton High School, PA to hear POTUS speak this Wednesday. There is not much happening in the Pocono Mountain Resort town either. You would think President Obama would be a huge draw.

The president is in trouble and Biden doesn’t bring anything to his ticket .
