Meanwhile, to make your day rotten, we viewed a short documentary on Stalingrad. It was RUSSIA that defeated the Germans, NOT Britain or its allies. That’s the Fact and Truth. The West are No. 1 LIARS par excellence. For 500 years!!!!
We saw Putin lay flowers at the famous Mother Russia (“The Motherland Calls”) monument on Mamayev Kurgan, a high point on the north side of the city, which changed hands several times during the battle. Mamayev Kurgan is the site of the grave of Marshal Vasili Chuykov, who as a general-lieutenant, led the Soviet 62nd Army at Stalingrad, neutralizing many of the invaders’ capabilities through his tactics of close-in fighting, called “hugging the enemy.” We viewed the skeleton of Pavlov’s House, a famous apartment building held by Soviet forces during the battle. It has been preserved, still standing, as a memorial. Historic T-34 tanks were brought out of museums to roll through the streets of Stalingrad yesterday.
The Battle of Stalingrad was the turning point in World War II. Hitler had amassed the biggest strategic grouping of his armies between the Don and Volga rivers — 14 crack Nazi divisions were deployed against Stalingrad — over a frontline as long as 850 kms.
The Germans lost 1.5 million lives in the Battle of Stalingrad with the Red Army destroying 3500 Nazi tanks. Stalin literally broke the back of Nazi Germany and Hitler never recovered.
The Russian sacrifices would not have been of such gigantic proportions if the western powers — Britain in particular — had opened a western front. But then, Winston Churchill hoped that the Soviet Union would bleed to death without western support.
Had it not been for Russia , Britain today would be speaking Deutsch, and singing: Deutschland ueber Alles.
