I believe you are right. History is full of mayhem, sometimes erupting without a moment’s notice. Sink a ship, fire a shot at a fort, march on Lexington and then Concord—all hell breaks loose. Who can predict the spark, how it will organize itself, whose side the military will take, whether our half-asleep countrymen will awake, load, and join.
