Rap “music,” like every other manifestation of African-american culture, appeals to the human 15 year-old mentality. For that reason, many people, as they live through their teenage years, are attracted to this culture. They drive down your street with rap music blaring loudly, they wear their pants low, they constantly grab at their crotches, they wear their hair in cornrows, etc. Usually, though, when their minds mature, their interest in African-american expressions diminishes. By the time their minds reach true adulthood, they may even come to dislike those behaviors that they previously imitated and adored.
Its GROTESQUE, and whats worse is they bring this sick mentality upon CIVILIZED people.
It is merely a manifestation of low mental maturity. For most people, it is guaranteed to disappear when a person’s mind develops beyond adolescence.
Eminem’s cute, candy name is bound to appeal to adolescents. He looks very comical in his inauthentic disguise as an urban Afroid male. But he looks like what every 15 year-old wants to be, thanks to three decades of television’s saturation coverage of African-americans .

Hm. Well since you ask, I prefer alternative and indie music. I however, have listened to rap before and do not take up issues with it, or any other form of music for that matter…
But whether or not I listen to rap is besides the point. My point is that it seems a bit ironic to me that you feel rap is offensive to civilized people, yet actual civilized people probably view rap for what it is: just another form of expression cultivated and appreciated by a cultural subset for whom it holds value and meaning.
Rap, as spoken word, is comparable to poetry. Not all poetry is flowery. Rap often deals with the very real, and oftentimes very harsh realities of the urban lifestyle. Of course, not all people are familiar with or can relate to that lifestyle, but…that doesn’t mean it is trash, perse.
I don’t necessarily relate to the references to alcoholism and domestic abuse that appear in many country songs, but I do not take offense with country music. It holds value for those who appreciate and can relate to it. So who am I to call it trash?

Sorry, but you have to listen to it because I drive my Toyota through as many neighborhoods as possible with the volume turned up as loud as I can.
